Adeolu Adewumi is a Policy, Conflict, Security and Elections Management professional with the strong motivation for identifying and solving problems with best-fit practices. He has productively engaged with several leaders and former Presidents on policy influencing, fact finding missions, facilitative dialogue and electoral reforms to improve internal and regional peace and security. He has extensive experiences working in difficult and cross-cultural terrains in Africa. He was the pioneer expert staff responsible for the establishment and presence of the Office of the Special Representative of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in the Republic of Guinea in 2007. He was actively involved in the dialogue, mediation and the peace process with key actors including the facilitation of series of International Contact Group on Guinea; the take-off of the Security Sector Reform and the return to constitutional order resulting in the successful conduct of the first democratic elections in Guinea in 2010 since independence in 1958. He was until 2019, the pioneer National Coordinator, Peace and Security Network (PSN) hosted by Mercy Corp International where he led the coordination of the programmatic activities of the largest platform of local CSOs, International NGOs, donors and diplomatic missions working to prevent conflicts and improve peace and security across the zones in Nigeria.
He has been a pioneer technical member of the Governing Council of Nigeria’s strategic Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) with the mandate covering Nigeria and Africa since 2018. He Chairs the Standing Committee on Advocacy and Interventions that strengthens and deepens the broad framework of policy formulation, direction and implementation. He is also a Special Advisor to the Washington, United States based think-tank Fund for Peace (FFP).
Adeolu Adewumi is the founding Director at 4Solutions West Africa chaired by a former President of Sierra Leone focused on enhancing capacity on Policy, Leadership, Peacebuilding, Conflict Transformation, and Security for improved productivity in West Africa. He has for years been an elections security analyst, coordinator and observer engaged by the ECOWAS and the Carter Centre. He previously had a distinguished service with the Nigerian Army for over 15 years handling strategic responsibilities related to Security and Intelligence Analysis and Management. His experiences are supported by several academic and advanced trainings. He is a pioneer student of Masters in Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He has an advanced training in Security and Intelligence Analysis and Operations. He is an alumnus of the Principles of Transformation Programme, Georgetown University, United States. He was also trained on Executive Leadership Programmes on Making Peace Processes Work and Making Prevention Work at the renowned International Peace and Development Training Center, United Kingdom. He is an active member of the Conflict Research Society (CRS), United Kingdom. He is also a Project Management Development Professional. He is fluent in English and French languages.
